Cambridge is well-known for its number of cyclists. The University and the city have a number of support measures in place to make it an accessible travel option.
Loans
The University's Travel to Work loan scheme could help you buy a bicycle and associated safety equipment with an interest-free loan of up to £2,500.
The national Cycle to Work scheme allows staff to purchase bicycles and associated safety equipment on a tax-free basis through a salary sacrifice scheme.
Tax relief on business journeys
Employers can pay their employees up to 20p per mile tax free for business journeys made by bicycle. The University does not currently pay any cycle mileage allowance. However, employees can claim tax relief on 20p per mile for all business journeys made using their own bicycle, through their tax return.
