Interim Head of Sustainability

The University of Cambridge Estates Division is looking to recruit an Interim Deputy Head of Sustainability.

This is a senior role within the Sustainability Team in the Estates Division, reporting to the Interim Head of Sustainability. The role is responsible for the development and delivery of the University's Carbon Reduction Strategy, enabling the achievement of carbon and utility reduction targets. They lead on a wide programme of carbon reduction activity. As the principal source of guidance for the University on matters relating to carbon and utility management, there is extensive contact with staff at all levels throughout the University and with external partners and organisations.

The role holder manages the Carbon and Energy Team to identify, implement, monitor and review strategies, policies and projects to reduce the University's carbon emissions and utility consumption.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in an environmental, engineering or scientific discipline or have membership of a relevant professional body, for example, the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment or the Energy Institute. They will also have extensive experience in carbon and utility management, experience of contributing to strategic planning and of making complex decisions, project management experience, and experience of managing and controlling budgets. They will also require substantial experience in leading, managing and developing staff.
