From Monday 25 January the route of the Universal will be temporarily altered at West Cambridge. The change of route will allow the raised sections (known as speed tables) of Charles Babbage Road to be replaced with give-way features. Once complete, the works will significantly reduce the level of vibration from the road and allow more sensitive instruments to be installed in the new Cavendish III lab that is currently under construction.
During the works the bus will enter West Cambridge via JJ Thompson Ave, turn around by the existing Cavendish Laboratory and return to Madingley Rd along JJ Thompson Ave. The bus stop on Charles Babbage Rd will be closed for the duration of the work. The diversion to the service is expected to be in place for six weeks and, once completed, we hope the bus ride will be smoother for all.
