Universal Bus – The University bus for everyone

The Universal bus service links Eddington with West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street), the railway station and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (including Addenbrookes), running every 15 minutes Monday to Friday.

On Saturdays buses run every 20 minutes from Eddington via West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street) to the railway station.

Sunday buses link Eddington via West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street) to the railway station up to every 30 minutes.

Mobile ticketing is available. Discounts apply for University card holders; show the driver your card and pay just £1 per journey. For all others, the standard journey fare is £2.20. Other weekly options are also available for Whippet services. For ticket options click here.

Rail - Travel for Cambridgeshire discount rate

A 10% discount rate on the purchase of train season tickets and bulk-buy tickets is available for staff of the University of Cambridge on certain routes. The scheme has been negotiated by Travel for Cambridgeshire for its members, including the University.

Please note, application forms are no longer available at the train station. Staff must download and print the application form below.

Scheme summary:

  • Govia Thameslink Railway and Abellio Greater Anglia are offering 10% discount off your season ticket.

  • You can buy annual season tickets, monthly season tickets, or 'create your own period' tickets from one month to one year.

  • As of Summer 2017, to apply you are now required to take with you this form to the railway station along with ID, preferably your University badge if you have one. You will also need evidence of employment, such as a recent payslip, offer of employment letter, or a company letter stamped or dated within the last 3 months. Further details are available via the links below.
