Our governance
The Estates Committee are responsible for all matters relating to the environmental sustainability performance of the University’s operational estate.
The Research Policy Committee (RPC) has established the Sustainable Research Sub-Committee (SRSC) to be responsible for supporting the University in its commitments and funder requirements as signatories to the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice. Including promoting awareness, improvements and compliance of sustainable research practices amongst the University’s academic community, they also identify and advocate opportunities for continuous improvement to the University’s sustainable research practice.
The Environmental Sustainability Strategy Committee (ESSC) provides strategic oversight of the University’s commitments to environmental sustainability.
There are currently three sub-committees of the ESSC, the:
- Carbon Offsetting Working Group. A fixed-term sub-committee tasked with developing an internal carbon offsetting scheme.
- Ecological Advisory Panel. Provide strategic oversight of the University’s commitment to biodiversity and ecosystems.
- Transport Working Group. Responsible for the development, implementation and review of the University’s Transport Strategy.
