Sustainability

Greenwich House was originally home to the Royal Greenwich Observatory (1990-1998). After an extensive refurbishment, completed in January 2016, it is now home to around 400 members of the University’s Unified Administrative Service (UAS).

This capital project was the first to receive financial support from the Energy and Carbon Reduction Project (ECRP). Various carbon reduction measures were funded as part of the redevelopment including solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal systems.

It is estimated that the solar PV unit should generate around 43,000kWh of electricity per annum and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 18 tonnes per year.
