The Wellcome Trust/ Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute is celebrating saving one million kWh of energy since it started a special project to reduce the amount of gas and electricity it uses. The Institute is one of the University’s biggest users of electricity and gas, but the impressive milestone of 1 million kWh savings has been met in a little over two years.

Kathy Hilton, Building Facilities Manager, congratulated everyone who helped to save energy and explained that "over the span of the initiative we have shown that it is possible to cut energy consumption by avoiding waste without being detrimental to our science."

Institute staff and visitors celebrated with a special tea party, held in the garden and a staff social area that was refurbished using money saved through energy efficiency actions.
