The Role:

The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Environmental Sustainability Team as its Utility Data Manager.

The Environmental Sustainability Team provides strategic direction, expert advice and operational support to enable the University to achieve its environmental sustainability commitments. This role sits within the Energy & Carbon sub team, reporting to the Energy Manager.

The role holder is will lead on the management of the University's utility (energy & water) data, and be responsible for developing and managing tools and systems for gathering, storing, organising, reporting and analysing the utility data, ensuring this is secure and accurate at all times.

The role holder will work closely with other members of the Energy & Carbon Team, wider Estates Division and other divisions as required, to provide accurate data reporting for utility consumption across the University's estate.

 

About you:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with a passion for and understanding of sustainability issues, with:

  • Extensive experience of data management.

  • Experience of managing and analysing complex data sets and using these to draw conclusions.

  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of collecting complex and large data.

  • Experience of presenting complex data in accessible and engaging formats to different audiences.

  • Knowledge and experience in using tools and software systems for managing utility data.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.

  • Ability to prioritise own workload and manage the delivery of simultaneous work streams

The position will be based in Cambridge and managed within the Environmental Sustainability Team in the Estates Division and will be based primarily in Greenwich House, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, in regard to location, to meet the requirements of the job including travel across Cambridge.
