The University of Cambridge is seeking an experienced individual to join the Environment and Energy Team as the Environmental Officer. This team is responsible for developing and implementing long-term plans to improve the University's performance across a wide range of areas of environmental sustainability, including carbon emissions, energy use, travel, waste, water, sustainable construction and sustainable procurement.

The role holder will report to the Head of Environment and Energy and be responsible for the development and implementation of policies, plans and projects to minimise the environmental impact of University operations, to comply with HEFCE and other regulatory requirements and to achieve the objectives set out in the University's Environmental Sustainability Policy and Strategy. Key elements of the role include leading the development of the University's Environmental Management System, championing the design and construction of environmentally sustainable buildings and developing and having responsibility for a wide range of environmental sustainability initiatives.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of management of environmental sustainability matters at a senior level and a proven ability to lead partnership working with internal and external stakeholders to reach an agreed objective. They will also be an experienced manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
