The Role:
The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Environmental Sustainability Team as the Assistant Carbon Manager.
The Environmental Sustainability Team provides strategic direction, expert advice and operational support to enable the University to achieve its environmental sustainability commitments. This role sits within the Carbon & Energy sub team, reporting to the Carbon Manager.
The role of Assistant Carbon Manager will:

Lead on calculation of the University's carbon emissions (scopes 1, 2 and 3).

Lead on a body of work to embed carbon reduction into management of the University's labs and research facilities, and lab-based research practices.

Support the Carbon Manager with the delivery of a programme of work aimed at reducing the University's carbon emissions and improving data and data sharing and communication in this area.

Lead on communication to develop carbon reduction at the University with focus on:
-
sustainability for research / lab facilities
-
sustainable business travel
-
other carbon reduction, projects as developed
-

Work closely with other members of the Environmental Sustainability Team, wider Estates Division and other divisions as required.

About you:
In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with:

Experience in collating, handling and analysing carbon emissions data or other environmental data

Attention to detail with high levels of numerical accuracy

Project management experience

Experience of stakeholder engagement and working with a range stakeholders

Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills

Knowledge of a range of environmental sustainability opportunities and advances within research / laboratory environments

Excellent organisational skills with a commitment to achieving results and ability to self-motivate

Location:
The position will be based in Cambridge and managed within the Environmental Sustainability Team in the Estates Division and will be based primarily in Greenwich House, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, in regard to location, to meet the requirements of the job including travel across Cambridge.
