Internship advert

The Environmental Sustainability Team are pleased to be offering a paid (up to) 24-week Internship from July 2023. 

We are looking for a recent graduate who will work with us to develop a more accessible approach, and tools relating to, sustainability focused communications for use across the University. Successful completion of the internship will help us effectively communicate complex principles and ideas to varied audiences, including sustainability experts and those with no prior knowledge of sustainability.

Internship Tasks  

Tasks listed are not fully indicative nor exhaustive of the Internship. There will be flexibility based on team priorities and personal interest.

  • Review of the accessibility of The Environmental Sustainability Team’s communications and the consideration of other platforms such as TikTok to reach a wider audience. 
  • Making recommendations for the structure and layout of information on a Sustainability SharePoint site. This would include removing of out of date or inefficient information and resources.  
  • Conducting research into sector best practise into effective methods for communicating with our students and making recommendations for improvement. 
  • Analysing our communications to improve visibility of key information which showcases the Team’s work towards a more sustainable University.   
  • Engage with members of the Environmental Sustainability Team, Cambridge Zero and other key stakeholders to understand content requirements for the website, our social media channels and who are our target audiences and how this differs cross platforms.  
  • The creation of an annual procedural plan, aligned with the academic year and sustainability events, to ensure continuous improvement of the website. 
  • Undertaking training that would aid in the visibility of the work of the Environmental Sustainability Team e.g., search engine optimisation (SEO) of the website.  
  • Run Environmental Sustainability Team training and produce basic website and social media updating crib sheets for the team.
