According to a 2018/19 national survey run by SOS-UK, 59% of Higher Education students want to learn more about sustainable development. In order to provide students with opportunities to learn, develop their skills and support sustainability-related action, the newly-launched Cambridge Green Challenge Timebank provides over 40 projects for students to engage with.
Staff across the University of Cambridge have contributed ideas for sustainability-related projects that they would like student assistance with. The time commitment required can be as little as one to two hours for a one-off project, but longer-term projects are also available. See below for a small sample of some of the fantastic projects that are on offer:
- night-time thermal camera surveys;
- social media promotion of environmental film screenings;
- running nature walks;
- designing posters on sustainable food choices for University Catering outlets;
- calculating the carbon footprint of a typical Cambridge student; and
- surveying bat boxes.
For further information on the projects available and details on how to get started, see the Cambridge Green Challenge Timebank webpage.
If you are a member of staff with a sustainability-related project that you would like help with (e.g. an event, a survey, a report, a piece of research or something else entirely) then get in touch so we can add your project to the Timebank.
