This week you may witness scenes reminiscent of the Olympics as 21 workplaces across the University take on the challenge to see which is the most active.

Lunch time walks, cycles and walking meetings have become common occurrences as teams try to cover as many miles as possible during their working day and daily commute.

The health benefits from being active in your commute and during the day are well known, but with the Workplace Challenge staff also reap the financial savings and carbon emissions reductions of leaving the car at home, see below.

The winners will be announced on 1 May and each team will receive feedback on how they did.

The challenge has got people moving in a way that is fun, sociable and competitive and there will be many opportunities to build on this during National Walking Month.
