Sustainability

Furniture piled up in a room.

The University’s free online reuse platform, WarpIT, has facilitated lots of exchanges in the last few months. Staff have taken the opportunity to source and give away diverse items on the platform, helping to reduce waste and cut the time and hassle involved in purchasing, invoicing and paying for new items. This year alone it is estimated that £16,228 has been saved by departments who chose to source from other departments rather than buy new, and the good news is there are more items than ever on the platform. A surge in users of the site, with 130 new registrations since January, has coincided with a jump in use of the portal. In that time 103 items have been added to the portal, 44 of these have already claimed by other staff. That’s more than the total for the whole of last year!

You too can register and log on to source printer cartridges, fridges, laboratory equipment, furniture, storage units and much more. You can even set a wishlist to be notified of items when they become available. Start saving and reducing waste today with WarpIT!

Top tip: Why not promote the use of WarpIT in your department or institute with this poster?
