Sustainability

Join us for our second 'Vegan Pop-Up Cafe' in the Hicks Room of the University Centre on Wednesday 8th May. Staff and students are welcome to come along from 1pm and try tasty vegan food cooked by chefs from the University Catering Service and the Colleges. They will be cooking a wide variety of tasty dishes, from Coconut Dhal with Roasted Aubergine to Southern Fried Jackfruit with BBQ Sauce!

Our last event in November 2018 was a huge success, seeing a large crowd eating all the food on offer in just 20 minutes! This time round we hope to give even more people a chance to try the tasty plant-based options.

About the event

The University Catering Service has been working with the Cambridge Colleges to provide more and tastier plant-based options to customers, as part of the University's Sustainable Food Policy. Meat, in particular ruminant meat, has a significant environmental impact, and the provision of more and tastier plant-based food options will help customers to reduce their environmental footprint while also enjoying exciting new foods and flavours. University and College chefs have been provided with vegan cookery training, and at this event you'll get a chance to try some fantastic vegan dishes they have created.
