Sustainability

What’s Student Switch Off?

Student Switch Off (SSO) is a university campaign all about climate action, and many of the Colleges here at Cambridge are part of it. SSO rewards pro-environmental behaviours throughout the year. Prizes for efforts made to make your College more sustainable include individual awards, a Ben & Jerrys delivery for your College, and an end of year prize of a £250 contribution towards your end of year College party.

Student Switch Off is run by the National Union of Students (NUS).

Can I become a Campaign Ambassador?

Yes! Campaign Ambassadors are the face of the SSO campaign, they help to spread the word and develop new and exciting ways of communicating the SSO message. You don’t need to be an expert on energy, waste or anything else - all ambassadors will receive a free training session on what to do and you will be supported throughout the year. The role is super flexible and fits around your studies, you can give as much or as little time as you like. You’ll be working alongside a passionate team, and it’s a great chance to meet new people and share ideas with like-minded individuals. At the end of the year you may also be eligible for a personalised reference from NUS too.
