Paid internships are offered to students each year. On this page you will find information on positions available over the next year. Internships with the Environment & Energy Section provide an opportunity to gain experience working with professionals in the field of sustainability and make contributions to improve the University’s environmental sustainability.

Summer 2019 internships at the University of Cambridge

The internships provide the opportunity to gain experience working with professionals in the field of sustainability and make contributions to improving the University’s environmental sustainability.

  • These positions are for current students or recently graduates (within the last year).

  • The internships are 8 weeks long, to be undertaken between June and September. 

  • The internships are paid, administered via the Temporary Employment Service.

  • Requirements for any specific start dates are detailed below.

  • These positions will be based in Cambridge.

You are welcome to apply to more than one position, but you can only be accepted for one.

Biodiversity Engagement Intern

This project will develop a strategy for engaging students and staff with biodiversity. This will involve liaising with local biodiversity groups and planning activities that are engaging and appropriate for students and/or staff throughout the year. This intern will also provide support for any ongoing work on biodiversity.

The successful applicant must be available to start the internship between mid-June and early August. Preference may be given to applicants who can start earlier.

Travel Intern

This project’s aim is to improve our understanding of where University staff are living and travelling from to get to work and how they are undertaking journeys whilst at work.

Water Intern

This project’s aim is to improve our understanding of how water is used within University laboratories and to identify how progress on water management can be accelerated.
