In December 2016, the University’s Resource Management Committee asked the Environment and Energy Section to develop a scheme under which departments are given responsibility and budgets for their electricity consumption. Through stakeholder consultation across the University, a proposed scheme – the Electricity Devolution Programme (EDP) – has been developed and is now being piloted in a number of departments.

The EDP is being piloted throughout 2018/19 and 2019/20 and, during this time, no financial transactions will take place, but it will be an opportunity to test the proposed mechanics of the scheme and  work with institutions to refine these ahead of  implementation of the EDP in 2020/21.
