Sustainability

The University has a target to recycle 95% of its total waste by the end of 2016. This is a very challenging target (presently only 74% of our waste is recycled, including construction waste), but can help your building or department’s help to improve this figure!

A new central waste contract for the University is coming into effect on the 1st July with Mick George Ltd replacing Cambridge City Council as our main waste contractor. This presents a great opportunity to look again at, and improve waste and recycling arrangements in your building or department. The E&E section, including an intern who will be working full time on waste & recycling issues for 8 weeks from early July, are offering support to University buildings and departments, including  waste audits to help identify ways to improve your recycling rate, and will be producing best practice guidance and resources to help raise awareness.

Are you interested in having an audit? Or would you like any other support or advice on waste & recycling issues? Let us know by emailing Environment and Energy: environment@admin.cam.ac.uk!
